E10 | Chauvin: America’s Past

On April 20th all eyes turned to the Minnesota courts as Derek Chauvin was convicted in his case surrounding George Floyd. In this episode, I emphasize America’s fledgling history and explore a critical turning point known as Reconstruction (1865 - 1877), a twelve year span when racial tension spread like wildfire, especially into American systems and policies. With the image below, a painting by John Gast, I examine the link between progress and Whiteness, ultimately curious what exactly creates America’s soul?
